Prayers at Mass revisited! Priestly Ponderings, back from the past!
Months ago, I wrote about some of my favorite prayers at mass the exemplify what we believe. Even though I have to practice them and they don’t ever seem to roll of the tongue, they have some real beauty and meaning.
This next Sunday, being our Festival is a great coincidence as the prayer after communion for this week was one of the prayers I love. It forced me to look deeper into the new prayers many years ago. Since, that blog was in the early days and wasn’t read by very many, I decided to revisit this one. I hope more read it and find my love for the prayer after communion this weekend. Hopefully also an insight into the rest of the presidential prayers. You need to read the blog however to see why.
What are “presidential” prayers. Sounds as if we are praying for the presidential candidates. Confused
Sorry Paul, can’t believe I didn’t include that. As priest presides they are the unique prayers every week said on behalf of the assembly. The collect, formerly opening prayer, just before we sit for readings, prayer over the gifts or just before preface dialogue, The Lord be with you, lift up your hearts, etc, and finally prayer after communion, first thing priest should say after communion of ls this.prauer
